Yoga is the Uniting of the Consciousness in the Heart.
It is not just a practice, but a journey within. A journey of spiritual practice, a path to self-realization, union, bliss, conscious connection, deepened awareness, and mindful living.
Yoga is a practice to align mind, body, and spirit by creating space and flexibility in all the layers of the being. It utilizes asana (postures) to soften resistance and remove blockages so Prana
(life force) can flow freely throughout the subtle channels. It is a way of life to be in higher alignment with one's Self. Breath is key to creating the flow of Prana in the body.
Yoga is a process of being melted by the fires of our life.
Through yoga, we can learn to quiet our minds and tune further into our body
and spirit through meditation.
Bernie Clark
I create custom classes catered to you to help you relieve stress and stiffness in your body. I believe we live in such a "Power" driven world with a lot of yang energy. By focusing on restorative and yin practices, we can become more balanced and relaxed in a world that pushes us so hard. Life is stressful, let's bring in more balance.
My yoga practice and classes focus on Hatha, Restorative, Yin, and Nidra to help relieve stress and stimulate deeper healing in our bodies in this very stressful world.
Hatha yoga
Hatha yoga is the yoga of balance and finding a union between two opposites such as the sun (ha) and the moon (tha). Hatha is great for beginners or students who prefer a more relaxed or meditative style where they hold poses longer, really allowing the breath to flow more fully with each pose. Hatha helps to build strength, flexibility, and mindfulness.
Restorative Yoga
Restorative yoga is a therapeutic style of yoga that promotes deep relaxation for the body through supported poses. The more the body is supported, the deeper the state of relaxation that can be experienced. In full relaxation, there is no movement, no effort, and the mind is quiet. In restorative yoga, we can drop our brains into Delta wavelengths, which is often so hard to achieve in our everyday lifestyle.
"We work very hard in our lives, and while we may sleep, we rarely take time to relax. Restorative yoga poses help us learn to rest deeply and completely."
- Judith Hanson Lasater, PhD., PT
Yin Yoga
An inward journey guided by the body's ability to open, receive, and witness its own intelligence.
Yin is designed to bring your body, mind, and awareness into a state of complete stillness. Stillness itself is a practice. Yin yoga poses stretch the connective tissue around the joints; mainly the knees, pelvis, sacrum, and spine. Yin helps to achieve a connection with one's self on a completely new and profound level. One must sit with themselves through all the edges of discomfort while being willing to breathe, witness, and be present for all of it. Through this discomfort is where the growth is found. When we push our edges, we grow and expand.
Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation, a method of Pratyahara (withdrawal of senses) that allows you to scan the body and tap into a state of relaxed consciousness as the mind settles in a place between wakefulness and sleep. Our goal is to stay awake enough to experience our inner journey, but as many of us are sleep deprived, a nap may happen.
